[The Minerva Academy invites you to a stimulating discussion between the former editor of the New York Times, Andrew Rosenthal, and the Dean of Minerva Academy, Prof. David Peritz, a leader in the field of lifelong learning and a political theorist and scholar at Sarah Lawrence College.
As the world around us is roiled by war and its aftershocks, it is imperative to gain insight through discussion and commentary from those with relevant expertise.
Mr. Rosenthal, a student of Russian history and society, was an associate press reporter and Bureau Chief in Russia during critical years near the end of Soviet Union. After joining the Times, he continued to report on Moscow and write about Russian American relations, nuclear weapons, and international security issues, covering four arms control summits, and interviewing Mikhail Gorbachev. He was the international editor of the NYT from 1997-2001. As deputy editorial page editor and then managing the editorial page, he wrote and reported a great deal on world events.
